title = "Animal Models for Human Visual Development",
abstract = "During the past few years there has been growing interest in disorders of development in the mammalian visual system, and, particularly, in the possibility of making correlations between experiments on animals and developmental anomalies of vision in human infants. This is an admirable strategy with some notable achievements, but it is fraught with certain inherent problems. The difficulty of making straightforward extrapolations between the results of physiological experiments in kittens and monkeys and clinical conditions is one of the themes of this paper.",
