Analysis of a microstrip line over a periodically perforated ground plane using the spectral domain method

Abstract

A microstrip interconnect over a periodically perforated ground is analyzed using the spectral domain method. In the spectral domain, the Green's function of a dielectric slab backed by a perforated ground plane is equivalent to the Fourier transformation of the reflected electric field of an equivalent frequency selective surface (FSS) screen which has the same periodic perforation. This approach is similar to the antenna-radome interaction analysis.
