Abstract

Earth-slope stablity is analyzed with the basic arguments of yield design, that is, considering static equilibrium respecting the strength-criterion which defines the admissible stress states for the constitutive soil. The concept of ″potentially stable″ earth slopes is introduced as well as the ″yield-factor″ to characterize it. Some classical methods for earthslope stablity analysis are examined.
