Abstract

This paper reports a substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW)-fed wideband filtenna working in 5G millimeter-wave frequency. The proposed filtenna is developed by using three pieces of substrates and two pieces of bonding films. It comprises four main parts: an SIW feeding structure, a coupling slot, two L-shaped probes, and two slotted radiating patches. The use of L-shaped probes generates the filtering response in the lower stopband. At the same time, the slots etched on the radiating patches contribute to the acquirement of filtering response in the upper stopband. By carefully design the SIW feeding structure, the suppression level in the stopband can be significantly improved. The proposed filtenna has been simulated to show an impedance bandwidth of 25.1% (23.3-30 GHz) and a suppression level of greater than 18 dB. The proposed antenna is a good candidate in the 5G millimeter-wave communications system.
