Abstract

An antenna with an opened quarter-wave patch fed by an L-shape probe is constructed. The impedance bandwidth, radiation patterns and gain are investigated. The antenna has about -11 dB and 7 dBi in cross-polarization and gain respectively, at the center frequency. The cross-polarization and gain are found to be better then the corresponding shorted quarter-wavelength patch. The achieved impedance bandwidth is about 35% (SWR<2).
