    Abstract

Recent progress in research and development of micro air vehicles (MAVs) in the world is briefly summarized. Two kinds of electrically powered prototype MAVs with a wingspan of less than 38 cm were successfully developed. In particular, TH360 MAV equipped with a payload of a self-made micro color video camera unit was flown more than five minutes, which distinctly transmitted the real-time images of specified objects underneath MAV from onboard camera to the ground station.
