Abstract

This paper proposes a novel H-bridge-multiplexed single-stage isolated AC-DC converter with a fifth-order resonant tank that significantly reduces the number of power semiconductor devices compared to conventional topologies. The design actively shapes the AC input current to achieve a unity power factor and low total harmonic distortion. The fifth-order resonant tank mitigates adverse effects caused by low-frequency components and high-frequency harmonics introduced through asymmetric modulation used for power factor correction within the resonant tank. Experimental results from a 250-W laboratory prototype demonstrate an efficiency of 91.542%, a power factor of 0.994, and a THD of 3.407%, confirming the converter's potential for achieving efficient and cost-effective isolated AC-DC power conversion. ©2025 IEEE.
