    Abstract

The kinetics of δ-ferrite transformation in a 16wt.%Cr-8wt.%Ni-6wt.%Mn-(Mo, V, Nb, B) austenitic weld metal have been studied. A "master" equation has been produced to describe the isothermal δ-ferrite transformation behaviour in the temperature range 600-950°C. An empirical model is developed which can be used to predict the fraction of δ-ferrite transformed under non-isothermal conditions. The model involves iterative computation of the "master" equation on isothermal data. Good agreement between prediction and experimental results has been obtained. © 1991.
