Abstract
Though coding has been exploited to protect against multiple failures in the literature, coding scheme is designed to tolerate the maximum number of failures in the worst case, which may sacrifice network throughput when the average number of failures is much less than the maximum number of failures in the worst case. In this letter, we design a novel coding based protection scheme against the average number of failures in a network. We formally prove the decodability of the proposed coding scheme. We demonstrate that the proposed scheme can improve network throughput through simulations. © 1997-2012 IEEE.
