Abstract
The oxidation behavior of the quaternary Cu45Zr 45Al5Ag5 BMG over the temperature range of 375-500°C was characterized. The CZA4-BMG was prepared by an injection-casting technique, analyzed by X-ray wavelength-dispersive spectroscopy (WDS) and the rods prepared for oxidation tests were about 3m min diameter and 0.5mm in length. The thermal stability of the as-cast BMG samples was examined by the differential-scanning calorimetry (DSC) on heating, and the oxidation tests were carried out by means of the thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) in dry air. The results presented that the used BMG provided a better oxidation resistance and are were strongly temperature-dependent, and the substrate started to form Cu10Zr7 with a 260 minexposure at 450° C followed by the development of ZrAl after a 360 min exposure.
