AESTHETICS IN THE ERA OF REAL-TIME MEDIA

Research output: Conference Papers › RGC 33 - Other conference paper

Abstract

Thanks to developments in hardware and software engineering, today’s digital media landscape has been undergoing a fundamental tranformation. Both computer-generated and lens-based imagery are nowadays produced, merged and viewed based on the principles of real-time, interactivity and modularity. Specifically, the roundtable presentation addresses the affordances of game engines to design and deliver various types of multi-media, real-time and CGI-based content and experiences – animations, interactive narratives, spatial virtual worlds (both VR and non-VR) that are often based on remediated and softwarized aesthetics and visual convetions rooted in film, photography and painting.
