Abstract
A new hybrid type II automatic repeat-request (ARQ) scheme was developed based on the simple multidimensional concatenated zigzag code. The scheme can be easily implemented and can be automatically adapt to varying channel quality. The throughput of the scheme is better than existing hybrid ARQ schemes, owing to the fact that the error-correcting capability of zigzag codes is far better than that of conventional convolutional codes.
