Abstract
With the continuous development of road traffic networks, driving safety has become one of the focuses of attention in today’s society. Especially in bad weather conditions, such as rainy days, when the vehicle is driving at high speed on the waterlogged road, due to the existence of dynamic water lift, it is easy to appear water-skiing phenomenon, resulting in accidents. In order to improve the stability and safety of the vehicles, this paper analyzes the water-skiing performance of the tire on the waterlogged road. Firstly, the finite element model of 205/55 R16 radial tire is established by ABAQUS and analyzed statically. Then, based on the fluid-structure coupling method, a complex coupling model including tire, water layer and road surface is constructed. In this model, four key factors including tire inflation pressure, water layer thickness, tire vertical load and tread wear are considered. Finally, through the finite element simulation analysis, it is shown that the increase of tire inflation pressure and vertical load will lead to the increase of the ultimate water-skiing speed of the vehicle on the waterlogged road. On the contrary, tread wear and the increase of water layer thickness will lead to a decrease in the limit water skiing speed of the vehicle on waterlogged roads. Among them, the inflation pressure has a greater impact on the water-skiing performance, and under the same conditions, the ultimate water-skiing speed of the vehicle increased from 72.43 km/h at 1.7 bar to 102.23 km/h at 2.9 bar. Therefore, it is more conducive to the safety of the vehicle to appropriately increase the inflation pressure of the tire in rainy days.
