Abstract

This paper present the designs of two low-insertion loss, sharp-rejection V-band microstrip bandpass filter (BPF) using a compact microstrip resonant cell*GaAs (CMRC) resonator. Experimental results show that the filter insertion loss only has about 2.1 dB and 2 dB and bandwidths of 24.8%, and 11% when using the side-coupled ring CMRC and hairpin CMRC resonators, respectively. The filters are designed on a 100-m thick GaAs substrate. In the filter designs, two technology configurations involving multilayer microstrip and coplanar waveguide (CPW) environment are considered to achieve flexibility in coupling. Results from measurement of the filters are presented. © 2011 Engineers Australia.
