Abstract

A stable noniterative bidirectional propagation method based on the scattering operators was developed. The reflection and transmission operators were used to develop this method to overcome waveguide problems. The square root operators were approximated using a complex coefficient rational approximation along with new method to damp the evanescent modes. The results of numerical study revealed that this method is highly accurate.
