Abstract
Development of the sparse matrix flat surface iterative approach (SMFSIA) has improved the Monte Carlo simulations of scattering from two dimensional (3D scattering problems) random rough surface problems. In this technique, the iterative procedure involves the multiplication of a very large square matrix with a column vector. Shown in this paper is the replacement of this CPU time consuming procedure with a Fast Fourier transform. This new method provides a faster solution time without sacrificing numerical accuracy.
