Abstract

With rapid growth of wireless local area networks (WLAN) and computing techniques, handheld devices have become a popular tool in terms of working, entertaining and communicating in daily life. Considering the huge amounts of messages travelling in WLAN, a secure authentication scheme is definitely necessary, which is also required to be flexible across multiple organizations. Aiming for establishing a secure and flexible WLAN authentication scheme for various organizations, this paper reviews existing secure authentication mechanisms, describes the details of the proposed authentication scheme, and evaluates achievements of such a scheme.
