Abstract

Predicting feed-forward compensation is an economical. effective and reliable strategy to improve the contolling accuracy of CNC machine tools. Based on a detailed analysis of contouring errors in turning. a predlcting mathematical model of contouring errors is worked out experimentally and analytically by taking account. of geometrical errors, load and thermal deformations of the machine tool process system. A feed-forward compensation system is developed by the authors and the cutting tests by a lathe with this compensation system have shown to improve the contouring accuracy considerablly.
