Abstract
The theory of projection onto convex sets (POCS) is applied to reduce blocking artifacts in compressed images coded by the block discrete cosine transform (BDCT). An image before compression is simulated by a triangular mesh, which is the basis of a proposed smoothness constraint set. The mesh is constructed by dividing each block into a set of triangles. The proposed method outperforms four existing methods subjectively and objectively. © 2002 IEEE.
