Abstract

Nonlinearity is always a hot research topic which leads to difficulties in analysis and design of practical systems. Parameters analysis is a matter of great importance for in-depth insights into the characteristics of nonlinear systems. A novel linear and nonlinear characteristic parameters approach is proposed for analysis and design of nonlinear systems. By using nonlinear characteristic output spectrum function based method, the linear and nonlinear parameters' influence on system output response is simultaneously considered. The novel nonlinear characteristic spectrum functions' coefficients are dependent on both linear and nonlinear parameters of interest. The relationship between the system output spectrum and linear and nonlinear parameters can be explicitly revealed. This approach extends the nonlinear characteristic spectrum function based method from the analysis and design of linear and nonlinear parameters in a separated manner to that of hybrid linear and nonlinear parameters. The results of a specific case study demonstrate that the proposed hybrid approach can provide a more comprehensive solution for nonlinear system analysis and design.
