Abstract

Microgrid is an important means for the development and progress of smart grids. Aiming at diagnosing the open circuit fault of the power switching device in the multi-functional converter (MFC) in microgrid, a method based on the feature of midpoint voltage deviation of the MFC is proposed, which combines the real-time switch state and the duration of the fault state to realize fault diagnosis. Based on the MFC model, the theoretical processes of different types of single-tube faults and double-tube faults were analyzed, and the characteristics of the midpoint voltage deviation and the corresponding switch state under different fault conditions were achieved. Finally, this MFC model was carried out on MATLAB/Simulink. The simulating results show that this fault diagnosis method could quickly and accurately locate single-tube faults and double-tube faults whether the MFC works as inverter or active power filter, which verifies the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.
