Abstract

This paper presents a fast method for designing millimeter-wave low noise amplifiers (LNAs) based on the modified implicit space mapping algorithm by greatly reducing the number of electromagnetic simulations needed. The optimization of S-parameters and noise figure is illustrated on a Ka-band LNA to verify the proposed approach. The simulation results demonstrate that this method is capable of saving at least 90% of the time compared to direct optimization of the circuit layout. The optimized circuit can operate within the range of 26 to 30 GHz, and exhibits| S11|<-10dB, |S22|<-10dB, |S21|=18±1.5dB, NF<2dB, and IPldB>-1.5dBm according to simulation results. © 2023 IEEE.
