Abstract

A finline-microstrip DRO especially suitable for millimeter-wave application is described in this letter. The DRO combines five parts into one compact structure with good performance. The five parts are matched load, DR suspended on the E-plane of a waveguide, finline Gunn diode oscillator, finline-to-microstrip transition, and microstrip output port. A Ka-band DRO based on this design was fabricated, and the experimental result shows that with the DR, the frequency stability versus dc bias was greatly improved. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
