Abstract
This paper introduces a low-cost feeding network with simple phase shift structures for phased array systems. The proposed feeding network consists of a one-to-four power divider, two phase shift structures and a structure to change the outputs spacing. Phase shift structures are the most significant and constructed by additional dielectric slabs on microstrip lines. By overlaying a high-permittivity dielectric slab on a microstrip line, the phase delay between the output and the input can be controlled by the length of the slab, thus the realization of phase shift. By combination of two phase shift structures consisted by two modified dielectric slabs, a wide phase shift range can be obtained and, in the meantime, a small phase shift step. For this feeding network, progressive phase shift between adjacent outputs can change from -120 deg to 120 deg with a step of 10 deg.
