Abstract

The object localization problem is to compute the orientation for a given object which best fits the sensed data. In this paper, Genetic algorithm (GA) for object localization is investigated. A method called Coveragebased Genetic Induction (COGIN) is applied to solve the problem of object localization. A comparison between COGIN and Simple-GA (SGA) is reported. They are tested by using synthetic edge images with different levels of random noise. . From the experimental results, it is shown that the performance of COGIN is much better than that of SGA.
