Abstract

This paper proposes a new design method for wideband millimeter-wave (mmW) Fabry-perot cavity (FPC) realization. A novel curve ground is designed by stacking PCB layers, which contributes to wide operating bandwidth for the antenna. At the same time, the antenna keeps a high realized gain within the operating bandwidth. The whole antenna is fabricated by using PCB technique, which is low cost and easy-to-fabrication. Finally, a 60 GHz antenna prototype based on the proposed design method is designed and fabricated with an impedance bandwidth of 24% and a 3-dB gain bandwidth of 12%. Its realized gain reaches to be 17.6 dBi. These performances make the proposed antenna a good candidate for 5G applications.
