Abstract

This paper reports a droplet Michelson interferometer, which is integrated onto a microfluidic chip. Michelson interferometer is realized using droplet grating with a reflected mirror and the interference pattern is observed in the reflected light. The optical interferometer can be tuned by changing the grating period using varying flow rate and index modulation using different types of liquids. Interferometer is extensively used as sensors especially refractometer. The on-chip Michelson interferometer is promising for the applications of biochemical and protein analysis. © 2009 CBMS.
