Abstract
This paper proposed a method to compensate the imperfection of RF switches in direction finding verification utilizing the time-modulated array (TMA). The TMA direction finding application was originally proposed to be a low-cost and high-agile method to realize the direction-finding task. However, the practical RF switches are not ideally behaved and suffering the imperfect electromagnetic performance, especially for the multistage cascaded switch network. In the previous researches, the direction of arrival (DoA) estimation algorithms are studied a lot while the quantitative analysis is lacked. The compensation method of the practical verification is proposed to solve the imperfection problem in a multi-stage switching network architecture. By comparative results, the proposed method could offer a good estimation performance. © 2019 IEEE.
