Abstract
A capacitor-isolated equalization topology operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) for series-connected cells to equalize the cell voltage automatically is proposed in this paper. Feedback control is not required to limit currents flowing through cells and circuit components. The operation principle is analyzed and an experimental prototype for four series-connected cells is built to validate the equalization performance of the proposed topology.
