Abstract
An eight-beam end-fire magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna array is proposed at the 60-GHz band. Eight end-fire ME-dipole antennas consisting of an open-ended substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and a pair of electric dipoles are employed as the radiation elements. An 8 × 8 SIW Butler matrix with modified configuration is designed to feed the ME-dipole array. Wide bandwidth of 16.4%, stable radiation patterns and gain varying from 9 to 12 dBi are obtained by the fabricated prototype. With advantages of good performance, convenience of integration and low fabrication cost, the proposed design would be an attractive candidate for future millimeter-wave applications.
