Abstract
TIAMAT is a mixed media digital exhibition, imatgining the possibility of settlement on a new planet, a task the the curatorial team assumed should be art's speciality. The show was meant to bring splendid dreams to the visitors and inspired their utopian imagination. In this context, Lai's video '72 Tenants' explore an almost impossible utopia of unconditional neighborly love, a communal ideal that is vibrant in cinematic representation but not real everyday life. The work echoes other works in the show -- what is inhabitation, and what kind of dwelling are we aspiring?
