Abstract

This paper presents a review of recent developments of 3D polymer waveguide devices for applications in mode-division-multiplexing fiber communication, which include mode multiplexers based on vertical couplers and waveguide branches, mode converters based on 3D gratings, and mode switches and routers based on 3D Mach-Zehnder interferometers.
