Abstract
威廉·裡奇韋的《非歐羅巴民族的演劇舞蹈》自新文化運動以來,常被中國學人 "誤讀" 或忽視。里氏的中國戲劇研究,是為其 "死亡崇拜說" 的悲劇起源論提供確證,反映了20世紀初歐洲人類學、民俗學在宗教、儀式、戲劇等研究領域的滲透,也濃縮了同時代漢學家翟理思等人的觀點。里氏基於實證研究而促生的民族、種族平等觀念,與20世紀初籠罩中西方學界的 "野蠻—文明" "落後—進步" 話語形成明顯對比;然而,20世紀40年代末董每戡先生的中國戲劇研究,則表現出對里氏等歐洲人類學研究理念的借鑒和延續,既啟發了後人的研究,也可為今天的中國傳統戲劇研究提供借鑒。
