香港青少年網絡欺凌的行為與對策

With the rapid growth of computing technology in the past decades, activities related to ICT such as YouTuber, eSports, On-line Game Live-show become popular. The advancement of ICT, to a certain extent, has brought opportunities and threats to our young people today. Different kinds of problem related to the use of ICT, including online games addiction, cyberbullying perpetration and victimization, and frequent visits to porn-sites have emerged. In response to all these, this paper will firstly report results of a recent study in Hong Kong. The paper examines prevalence, nature and characteristics of cyberbullying among adolescents; and discusses what are the possible strategies for preventing cyberbullying. It will also examine ways for assisting young people to develop their healthy online habits. The study is based on a sample of 3,000 adolescents collected from twenty secondary and primary schoolsin Hong Kong. The research results found that cyberbullying was associated with several research variables related to youth online behaviors. Measures including “time spent on online behaviors, “online habits”, “sense of belonging to school”, “harmoniousschool”, “harmonious family”, “self-efficacy”, “empathy”, and “values towards violence” were either positively or inversely related to cyberbullying. The study also found that “reactive aggression” as compared to two other kinds of aggression, i.e. “power-related proactive aggression” and “proactive relational aggression”, was the most common type of aggression among the bullies. To conclude, the paper suggests that social workers should adopt a proactive approach, which focuses on training up young people’s emotional management and social skills, to help young people tackle cyberbullying.
