Abstract
Since the digital age, the term "curation" from museology has been introduced by library information science, education, marketing and other disciplines as a solution to the overload of digital resources. The journalism industry also proposed the term "journalism curation" as a new professional imagination adapting to the transformation of the media ecology. After ten years of conceptual elaboration, theoretical construction, and empirical testing, the original concepts of curation and news communication are intertwined, and the driving curators, practical behavior, and content of curation have gradually evolved with the changes in the media ecology. This paper uses the deep learning neural network method to systematically excavate the latent semantic evolution between the concept of "curation" and other concepts after it entered the field of journalism and communication. The results of the study show that although the original intention of journalism and communication disciplines to capture the term "curation" is to find a solution for the transformation of the professional roles of journalists. Contrary to the expectations of the industry and academia, the semantics of "curation" is gradually moving away from professional journalists. The specific trend of curation could be describe as "de-professionalization of the curators", " de-publicity of curation behavior " and" platformization of curatorial contents".
