Abstract

Using the large eddy simulation ( LES) method,a series of numerical simulation calculations were conducted on the wind loadings with different wind angles on flat roof building ( length∶ width∶ height = 1. 0∶ 1. 0∶ 0. 5) with balconies in building facades. It is shown that LES can well predict wind pressure distribution on building surfaces when compared with the wind tunnel test results. Based on this, the effects of facade balcony on the wind pressure and wind flow on the surface of the building under different angles of wind directions were discussed. At the same time, the influence of change of different flow field conditions on the effect of the balcony was considered. The results show that the introduction of the facade balcony will obviously change the separation and reattachment of the airflow on the surface of the building,so that the distribution of the wind pressure on surface along the height direction changes. The change mainly concentrates on the windward facade of the building, especially in the top row of the balcony in the windward facade and the areas above. With the increase in the angles of wind directions of incident wind flow, the effect of balconies on the wind pressure on the windward facade of the building gradually increases.
