Abstract

In addition to fighting for its living space through war and flexible diplomatic means, the Xixia Kingdom also shows its independence from neighboring powers in its social culture. However, several essential countries besides it have tried to exert the force on them. These are all found in official documents or literary works of the time. On the other hand, as a northwestern regime, Xixia has generally emphasized the characteristics of its Tangut -based political subject. However, in addition to the Tangut identity, there are also different ethnic groups such as Shatuo, Huishun, Tubo, and Han people. From an official standpoint, to fight against foreign wars, the party must also exalt its independence to unite its citizens, and even establish the sense of national identity among other ethnic groups in the ruling area, so that the surrounding powers can surround it. This article will make a primary rationale for the description of the Western Xia image in the literature and discuss how Yuan Zhen constructed the official Xixia image.
