Abstract
This paper describes the importation of foreign architecture to China during 1978-2008. The 30 years' history is divided to three stages: 1978-1990, 1991-2000 and the first eight years of the 21st century. Each stage has its particular building types and presentations. The first seven years in the 21st century saw a huge amount of imported architectural design which outnumbers the sum of past 20 years. The paper concludes the positive and negative influences foreign architectural design brought to China. The author argues that the foreign architectural design will become a normal part of Chinese architectural landscape. People will pay more attentions on quality and brands of design, regardless which country they are from.
