Abstract
This paper aims to introduce linear representation, hierarchical representation and also briefly mention network representation for all sorts of language constituents. Through the adoption of an existing tree generator developed by Miles Shang (http://mshang.ca/syntree/), teachers can easily generate tree diagrams as supplementary teaching materials, which explain internal relationships of language constituents in different language components. Through such diagrammatic illustrations, it is hoped that students will learn to appreciate the universal properties and specific properties of the languages they know and learn. Moreover, they should also understand how languages are organized and how they operate in general. In this way, it is easier for them to learn how to compare and contrast the differences of various languages and this will thus enhance their self-learning abilities in the future.
