Abstract

Du Fu had lived in Hunan and Hubei for a long time in his later years. He continued writing poems at that time. From the words used in his poems—"Mu Gui" and "Jiang Han", we could discover that although Du Fu still paid a lot of concerns on politics, the words he used in the poems were obviously more negative than the words he used in "Wang Yue". Du Fu in his old age was not confident as he was young, which is because Du Fu was fully disappointed due to not be held in regard by the government for years. He also worried about the safety of country and nationals because his country was facing internal and external difficulties in the meantime. Therefore, his poems written in Hunan and Hubei show the feelings of sadness caused by his diseases and old age, being frustrated for all his talent and worried about his country’s safety.
