Abstract

Objective  To investigate the impact of career-related social support on the career maturity of undergraduate nursing students. Methods  By convenience sampling method, 815 undergraduate nursing students were selected from March to September 2016. The general questionnaire, social support scale and career maturity scale were used to investigate the status of students’ career maturity, and to explore the relationship between career-related social support and career maturity. Results  The total score of career-related social support in undergraduate nursing students was (80.39±9.39). The dimension of career maturity with the highest score was career independence; the dimension of career maturity with the lowest score was career value. The result of correlation analysis showed that career-related social support and its three sub-dimensions, including objective support, subjective support and support utilization, positively correlated with of career maturity (< 0.05). Conclusions  Career-related social support can positively affect the career maturity of undergraduate nursing students.
