Abstract

Group polarization phenomenon refers to the group members continue to move towards the direction of bias after discussion, eventually forming extreme views. This paper is using quantitative research methods, innovatively creates proposed measures of group polarization, and selects the event of hot debate "Tsinghua university centennial celebration" online in Sina Twitter as a case study, aimed at surveying the message of this event and measuring attitudes of Internet users, describing the discussion and analyzing the group attitude. Research results show that in the discussion of Tsinghua university centennial celebration event by Internet users in Sina Twitter on discuss process, the online group polarization phenomenon exists; And, users’attitudes happened great change.
