Abstract

The coarse steel slag with diameter of 1-3 mm and cement raw materials were mixed to calcine, which focus on mineral category and morphology of steel slag and interactions between coarse steel slag and cement raw materials after calcined in different temperature. XRD, SEM were used to study the properties of clinker, the results show that the mass ration of periclase decreased from 4.8 percent to 1.0 percent after calcined at 1350 ℃ or 1450 ℃ respectively. The XRD pattern shows that the position of characteristic peak of RO phase changed after calcined at high temperature, which indicated that the majority of chemical composition of RO phase transformed from FeO to MgO. The ration of Mg to Fe increased from 1∶1.5 to 9.6∶1. Mass or flack shape middle minerals were formed after interacted between coarse steel slag and cement raw materials under the condition of high temperature, combined with X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, it was found that the minerals of transition area were C4AF, and with increase of temperature, the ration of Fe and Al phase increased at the transition area significantly, which reveals the level of involvement of steel slag improved with increasing of temperature.
