Abstract
Cylindrical industrial structures, as a significant category of material remains in rural industrial heritage, are products shaped by specific historical contexts, regional conditions, and production modes. Based on the investigation results of cylindrical industrial structures involved in the investigation cases of rural industrial heritage in Jiangsu Province, this research systematically classifies and analyzes the characteristics of such structures. Integrating heritage conservation theories and urban –rural disparity analysis, the research develops a scientifically operational assessment tool for adaptive reuse through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Additionally, the research constructs an assessment system of ‘material value–intangible value–spatial potential’, along with a graded protection methodology. Finally, a ‘form–culture– function’ regeneration correlation model is proposed to shift heritage conservation from ‘generalized conservation’ to ‘precise activation’, which may provide a paradigm for reuse assessments of other forms of heritage while promoting the sustainable development of rural revitalization and heritage conservation.
