Abstract
Measurement is a crucial topic in social capital research.Specifically,measurement of collective soical capital is the very root of academic debates.Based on literature review,this paper proposes a multi_dimensional instrument to measure community social capital,and develops a scale accordingly.With the scale,data were collected from 50 communities during year 2006 to 2007.Statistical analysis shows that the proposed scale has 7 dimensions,with satisfactory relability and validity. In the last part , the paper briefly discusses unique characteristics of community social capital in urban China , and directions of future research.
