社会性别视角下的代际支持与老龄健康

Good intergenerational relationship is essential to the life of the elderly. This is not only reflected in the strong positive effect of children's economic support to elderly parents' living level, but also reflected in the positive effect of intergenerational support to old people's physiological and psychological health effects. However, the role of sons and daughters in intergenerational support is not the same, the traditional gender system gives sons and daughters different support responsibility, while physiological and psychological differences give males and females different support advantage. This study was aimed to explore the gender differences of intergenerational support and the different effect of sons and daughters' intergenerational support on the health status of the elderly parents. Cross-section data of CHARLS was conducted for empirical analysis. Results showed that: the influence of traditional gender system still exists in the countryside, but women's role in intergenerational support is gradually highlighted. There are both similarities and differences between urban and rural intergenerational support pattern. Male and female own different advantages in intergenerational support.
