Abstract
By discussing a heuristic case, the essay sketches out the debate between reconstructive Confucianism and principlism. It points out their fundamental differences in understanding the concept of person, and further discusses that whether the agent of decision-making is individual or family which is derived from the divergence. Through a fair and comprehensive introduction to both camps of the debate, it provides a clear theoretical picture for further discussion.
