Abstract
Since the reform and opening up, the rapid rise in the income of Chinese residents and the continuous upgrading of consumption have, to a certain extent, promoted the transformation of the service industry. This paper sorts out the connotation of consumption upgrading and the transformation of the service industry on the basis of existing literature, and explores the impact of household consumption upgrading on the transformation of the service industry with relevant data from 2004 to 2019. It's concluded that the upgrading of residents’ consumption exerts a significant positive impact on the service industry in that consumption upgrading serves to boost the sustainable economic growth of the service industry and the optimization of the industrial structure.
