Abstract
In this paper, we give a short review of the development of asymptotic analysis in the second half of the 20th century. It includes asymptotic approximations of integrals, asymptotic solutions to linear ordinary differential equations, singular perturbation theory, asymptotics for difference equations and the Riemann-Hilbert method
