Abstract
Lubrication and adsorption of BSA aqueous solution have been studied on a slider-on-disc lubricating film thickness tester. The lubricated contact consisted of a stationery slider and a moving disc. The results indicated that film thickness increased with increasing speeds and decreased with increasing loads. Two types of adsorption were found. One was a continuous thin layer adsorption, and the other was discontinuous clusters. The other was continuous adsorption. The micro-corrosion on the surface of the slider was also observed, and it grew from the inlet to the outlet and promoted the growth of adsorption. The formation of adsorption layer was affected by the shear rate and pressure. High shear rate and low load favored the growth of adsorbed film.
